How the Legends Cup Works
The event unfolds over three memorable days:
Day 1 – Welcome Dinner & Pairing Announcements
Festivities kick off in the Legends pro shop with a casual, celebratory dinner. The highlight of the evening is the team pairing announcement, when participants learn which side they’ll represent. The anticipation and excitement as names are called set the perfect tone for the weekend.
Days 2 & 3 – Two-Person Scrambles in Match Play
The heart of The Legends Cup lies in its competition: two full days of two-person scramble match play. Players are grouped into pairs and assigned to one of two teams. Each pairing then faces off against a duo from the opposing team, earning points for their side over 18 holes of head-to-head golf.
What “Ryder Cup Style” Really Means
The Legends Cup takes its cue from the Ryder Cup, golf’s premier international team event, where the United States and Europe compete every two years. Like its inspiration, The Legends Cup divides participants into two squads and uses match play scoring.
In match play, every hole is its own mini-competition. Instead of tallying total strokes for the round, pairs compete hole by hole. Winning a hole earns one point, tying (or “halving”) a hole earns a half-point, and losing the hole yields no points. The team with the most points at the end of the event claims the coveted Legends Cup trophy—and bragging rights until next year.
